Police to Cite Cars Running Unattended

A Message From P.G. County Police District VI
Date: Tue, Dec 9, 2008
Subject: Thefts of Vehicles Left Unattended while Running

As we experience colder weather, it is tempting to warm up your vehicle. However, vehicles left unattended create a great opportunity for them to be stolen. District VI experienced three stolen vehicles yesterday [Dec 8] in which the vehicles were running while unattended.

It is illegal to leave a vehicle running and unattended.

The purpose of this message is to inform you of the recent thefts and also to provide notice that beginning tomorrow morning, patrol officers will be looking for vehicles that are running while unattended.

Officers have been instructed to issue citations for violations that are observed.

Please help us to reduce crime and take away the opportunity for crime!

Major Dwayne A. Preston
Commander, District VI
Prince George's County Police Department
