City of Laurel Press Release:

Laurel Police Will Hold Sobriety Checkpoint on June 26, 2015

It’s one of the most important things Police Departments can do to make the roads safer—sobriety checkpoints.

The  Laurel Police Department is required by Maryland law to let the public know in advance when they’re scheduled,  yet we routinely make DUI arrests during our checkpoints.  That tells us impaired drivers are out there, and Police have to stay vigilant to get them off the streets.

Laurel Police Chief Richard McLaughlin has announced the date for the next sobriety checkpoint It will take place on Friday, June 26, 2015. Here’s what you need to know:
·        The checkpoint will be set up on Second Street northbound at Main Street next to the commuter parking lot.

·        Officers will work the checkpoint from 11:00pm to 3:00 am..

This effort will continue because it can be a lifesaver.

For more information  please contact PFC Theresa Kelliher at the Laurel Police Department, 301-498-0092.
