Rio Restaurant & Lounge in Laurel has closed since Dec 31, 2013 -- Details ...

At the county liquor board hearing at 7 pm Wed, Feb 5, 2014 Rio Restaurant & Lounge was scheduled for three show cause hearings (continued from Dec 4, 2013) for alleged violations cited by county liquor inspectors (see full Feb 5 Agenda for details). Before any other testimony, Rio stipulated to all the listed violations and told the board that it had closed permanently and had ceased all operations as of Dec 31, 2013, due in part to the owner's health, and his intent to sell the business. So that Rio can have more time to seek a buyer for the business, the board agreed to let Rio keep its liquor license active, but to stay closed, and to surrender the license no later than April 30, 2014.  Rio said they were already in negotiation with several potential buyers. NB:  If there is a buyer application to transfer the license, then a public hearing would be expected.

Also on Feb 5, a show cause hearing that night for Tubby's, 5701 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD 20707, (see below), was continued until Feb 25, when Tuby's also has a hearing to exchange liquor licenses licences with  nearby Sullivan's Steak & Beverage, 9624 Ft. Meade Road, Laurel, 20707,  (See Feb 25 Agenda)

Corrections always welcome.
